Rice Krispie Treats are a childhood staple for many of us, but this recipe is for adults only! On top of being vegan, we added a cannabis-infused chocolate drizzle made with our Pantry Cacao Keto Bites. These tasty, gooey treats can be stored for up to a week in an air-tight container, just try not to spoil your dinner.
How to bake Vegan Rice Krispie Treats

10 oz Dandie’s All-Natural Marshmallows*
4 cups Nature’s Path Crispy Rice Cereal**
3 tbsps (¼ cup) Coconut oil or vegan butter
1 container of Pantry Superfood Bites (Cacao Keto Bites)
Optional: ½ tsp Vanilla extract
* Many find Trader joe’s marshmallows are similar to Dandie’s, so the final choice is up to you! We also recommend using the mini-marshmallows instead of the large ones. They’ll melt easier and more evenly!
** Some people are okay using regular Rice Krispies Cereal, but since it contains D3, which derives from sheep’s wool, others don’t consider it a vegan option.
(Another question some people have asked is, ‘Is Rice Krispies gluten-free?’ As opposed to the regular brand, this recipe is totally gluten-free and can have the ingredients substituted as needed.)
Making the chocolate drizzle with Pantry Cacao Keto Bites
The best way to melt chocolate is by using the double boiler method. Even if you don’t have the right equipment for it, you can makeshift your own with a pot and glass mixing bowl!
Fill a medium pot a little less than halfway with water. Set it on low heat to bring the water to a simmer.
Place the glass bowl over the pot and make sure it isn’t touching the water.
Stir the chocolate as the steam heats the bowl until all the chocolate pieces are melted. Remove the bowl and set it aside for the last step. If it starts to harden, you can reheat it lightly using the same technique.
Lightly butter all the sides of an 8-inch or 9-inch baking pan. Set it to the side for later.
Heat a medium to large saucepan over low heat. Add the butter or coconut oil, and the marshmallows. If you’re using butter, let it slightly melt before throwing in the marshmallows.
Stir everything together until the marshmallows have softened.
Remove the pan from the stove and add the crispy rice cereal. You’ll most likely need to use your hands to combine it all together, but be careful since the marshmallows will be hot! Try waiting for it to slightly cool off.
Once everything has been mixed in, begin patting the crispy square mixture into the greased baking pan. Press it down evenly with either your hands or a spatula.
Drizzle the chocolate across the top and let the treats cool for about 30 minutes to an hour. This will make it much easier to cut them into even squares!
Combine the marshmallows and butter or coconut oil into a large, microwave-safe, glass-mixing bowl.
Heat the bowl on high power for 30-second intervals and remove it each time to stir the ingredients together. It should take about 90-seconds for everything to melt.
Add the crispy rice cereal to the bowl and, very carefully, use your hands to fully combine the ingredients. If it’s too hot, then wait a few minutes so you don’t burn yourself.
Gently press the crispy treats into the buttered baking pan and finish them off with the chocolate drizzle. Allow them to sit for at least 30 minutes to cool down.
A yummy, cannabis dessert for those 18 and older. No kids allowed!
